Fear Aggressive Dogs – We CAN Help!

All animals have to respond to their fight or flight instinct at some point. For a wild animal, this may happen when another animal is threatening them. For a domestic dog, the trigger is much more likely to be something like a stranger, a loud noise, or an animal that isn’t exactly threatening but that makes them feel uncertain. When they choose fight, it’s called fear aggression.

Dog Trainer Baltimore - Fear Aggression BlogFear aggression is a problem because, while understandable, it can result in the injury of another animal or of a person. Even if your dog isn’t trying to behave badly and is only responding to instinct, that instinct will tell them to growl at, lunge at, and/or bite anything they perceive as a threat. This could be a small child or someone else’s pet. The physical, monetary, and emotional consequences of something like this can be extreme.

Let’s fix the problem before it has a chance to go that far.

A reputable, well-educated in-home dog trainer such as myself will solve the problem of fear aggression at its root–in the dog’s mind. I’ll work not only to change your dog’s outward behavior, but also his way of thinking. Using training techniques such as basic obedience training, focus training, place training, proper leash handling techniques, and more, I’ll teach your dog to look to you for an appropriate reaction rather than to his own, oftentimes misled, instincts. While I enjoy the stories of dogs trusting their instincts and sniffing out bad guys as much as the next dog lover, these stories, unfortunately, are few and far between compared to the stories of dogs misidentifying a threat and attacking a loved one or another beloved pet.
